The Basics of Eye Training
Experts have designed exercises to address lower back problems. Doctors and trainers use these as part of preventive medicine. The primary focus is on how posture supports the structure of the human body. Among other things, these exercises include lessons in how to lift heavy objects properly, how to sit properly, and how to relax Instructors teach the participants not to neglect certain muscle groups at the expense of others and not to overly stress muscle groups because doing so can lead to bad posture, chronic tension, and, eventually, to organic damage.
Eye training is based on a similar idea. In this case, WE want to establish physical and visual habits that support and stimulate the proper functioning of the eyes.
Eye training does not attempt to heal illnesses of the eye. That is a job for an ophthalmologist. Furthermore, eye training is not a therapy that deals with emotional problems, although these often affect the eyes and visual ability. That is a job for an eye specialist, an ophthalmologist who also deals with psychosomatic issues, or a mental health counselor.
Prevention: The Underlying Principle
The goal of eye training is prevention. Eye training stresses countermeasures to use when you’ve developed bad habits. It also works on proper visual behavior, based on the needs of the eye.
Eye training exercises are easy to learn. You can practice them almost anywhere. They maintain and strengthen your visual abilities, prevent a bad situation from becoming worse, and effectively give your eyes a chance to relax.
Who Should Use These Exercises?
Dynamic, holistic eye training is as useful for people with normal eyesight as it is for those with defective vision, such as those who are nearsighted, farsighted, or cross-eyed. However, people with defective vision should know that the eye training program presented here won’t reverse their condition. At best, this program might stop a condition from deteriorating, and it might strengthen visual acuity. However, evidence of that does not necessarily show up in lower dioptric numbers.
Eye training is not a substitute for medical examination and treatment! It is simply a valuable tool to reactivate the self-healing powers of the eyes.
